Estudio Lamela wins two ASPRIMA-SIMA 2020 Awards for the “quality and impact of its architecture”
The jury of the renowned international real estate awards Asprima-Sima 2020 has awarded Estudio Lamela in two categories in its 17th edition.
The Canalejas Center has won the award in the category of Best Non-Residential Real Estate Performance “for its great technical complexity”, and the Madrid homes of Modesto Lafuente, 26, designed for Grosvenor Re Spain, have been awarded as Best Real Estate Performance in Housing for “the quality of the final result”.
These awards, which have recognized the best initiatives in the real estate sector for years, have awarded the prize in the category of Best Non-Residential Real Estate Performance to Centro Canalejas, the work of Estudio Lamela. Specifically, the jury “stressed that this is an action of great urbanistic and technical complexity with a final result that will have a positive impact on the area and the city of Madrid and, moreover, in line with the most avant-garde European trends”.
Centro Canalejas is one of the most important urban interventions developed in Europe in recent decades. Estudio Lamela has designed a 50,000 m2 complex with different uses: a 5 Star Luxury Hotel operated by the Four Seasons chain, with an approximate area of 32,000 m2 and 200 rooms, a 15,000 m2 shopping mall, 22 high-end homes and a parking lot with capacity for 400 vehicles.
The Hotel is one of the most important created in Madrid in all its history, only comparable to what the Ritz and Palace represented in their day (1912).
Best Real Estate Performance in Housing
Estudio Lamela wins two ASPRIMA-SIMA 2020 Awards for the “quality and impact of its architecture”. The second award granted by Asprima-Sima 2020 to Estudio Lamela was in the category of Best Real Estate Performance in Housing. On this occasion, it is the complete rehabilitation of an old office building in 26 Modesto Lafuente Street in Madrid, in the heart of the Chamberí district, one of the best known and most important in the Spanish capital.
The development consists of seven floors above ground (2,100 square meters) and three below ground (890 square meters) and includes 12 family apartments of different sizes, a duplex housing on the first floor, and two penthouses, also duplex, with large terraces.
One of its most outstanding features is the translucent façade, which not only improves the urban landscape and regenerates the surrounding area, but also incorporates “inside” the houses a protected green garden and a historic grove located just in front.
In terms of certification, the building has the BREEAM sustainability rating of “Very Good”, as well as the A energy efficiency certificate.
