OFFICIAL PRESENTATION OF THE CITY OF JUSTICE PROJECT
Yesterday, Monday, May 5, 2025, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, officially presented the City of Justice project at the Royal Post Office (Real Casa de Correos). This large-scale initiative aims to consolidate 26 judicial facilities currently scattered across Madrid into a single complex located in Valdebebas. Construction will begin in June and is scheduled to last 36 months, with a public investment exceeding 653 million euros.
The future City of Justice will span over 470,000 square meters, including 40,000 square meters of green areas. The design emphasizes energy efficiency and sustainability, incorporating green roofs, vertical gardens, and a central plaza of 13,500 square meters.
One of the most iconic elements of the project is the building of the High Court of Justice of Madrid (Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Madrid), designed by Estudio Lamela. This building will become the visual landmark and emblem of the entire complex, distinguished by its singular architectural identity and integration into the urban context.
In addition to this building, Estudio Lamela will also be responsible for designing the Provincial Courts and the grand entrance plaza.
The first buildings, including the High Court of Justice, the Provincial Court, and the First Instance Courts, are expected to be operational in 2026. The remainder of the facilities will be completed progressively through 2028.
