T4 Turns 20
Madrid-Barajas Terminal 4 celebrates its 20th anniversary, establishing itself as a global icon of public architecture and civil engineering. On February 5, 2006, at 05:30 AM, Iberia flight IB2640 departed for Barcelona, marking the operational debut of an infrastructure that redefined contemporary airport design standards. Since its opening, T4 has earned prestigious awards and become a landmark of modern Madrid.
With the ongoing expansion and remodeling led by Estudio Lamela —reinforcing the T4 hub and developing a new passenger processor for terminals T1, T2, and T3— the airport is set to exceed 90 million passengers.
