Carlos Lamela, Fuera de Serie 2019 Architecture Award
Carlos Lamela, the president of Estudio Lamela, has been awarded the Fuera de Serie 2019 Architecture Award by the Fuera de Serie magazine, edited by the El Mundo newspaper. The recognition acknowledges the work of an architecture studio founded over 60 years ago by Antonio Lamela (1926-2017), one of the greatest architects of the 20th century, the father of Carlos Lamela.
Estudio Lamela, which over the past decades has designed such important projects such as the Torres Colón, the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the Canalejas Center, and, with Richard Rogers, the Terminal 4 of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, understands this award as an advocacy of teamwork, dedication, demand and professionalism.
“It’s a privilege to be part of an award that, in other editions, has recognized the work of colleagues of enormous talent such as Juan Herreros, the RCR studio, and the studio of Cruz y Ortiz,” says Carlos Lamela. He also adds: “For us, it is, without a doubt, an endorsement that the path drawn many years ago by my father was the right one. To his memory and to the team I dedicate the award.” :
