Estudio Lamela opens its doors during the 8th edition of Open House Madrid

Open House is an international architecture festival that takes place one weekend a year in more than 40 cities around the world. Open House Madrid has been held since 2015. Every year, architecture becomes the protagonist of the Madrid urban scene on the last weekend of September, proving that architectural culture is essential. Its objective is to encourage appreciation of architectural excellence, and thus allow citizens to understand the great value of Madrid’s spaces through its open doors.

Open House Madrid took place last week from September 23 to 25 with its 8th edition and proposed a wide tour for this edition: 160 plans in total: visits to 93 buildings and 33 architect studios (which are normally closed to the public), 18 routes through the Madrid community, and 10 different itineraries.

Estudio Lamela, the oldest architecture studio… which is also one of the most important and award-winning studios in Spain, participated in the annual cultural event and opened its doors last Friday, September 25.

Open House Madrid is a project of Culture Care, a non-profit association that promotes and disseminates local architectural heritage. “Well-designed buildings and public spaces are vital to creating and maintaining a vibrant and equitable city,” according to Victoria Thornton, Founder of Open House.
