RADISSON HOTEL
21 Alcalá Street, Madrid
The project involves the refurbishment of the original building designed by architect Lluís Bonet in the 1930s as the headquarters of Banco Vitalicio.
The hotel, which will comprise 154 guest rooms, will preserve and restore the façades, the entrance hall, and the main staircase, all of which are protected heritage elements subject to mandatory restoration. The reception and restaurant will be located on the first floor. The building services will be relocated within the interior of the building, making it possible to create a rooftop terrace bar with 360-degree views over Madrid. This intervention will also improve the perception of the building within its urban surroundings.
From a technical perspective, the project retains the existing structure, incorporating the necessary structural reinforcements to comply with current regulations, while restoring the protected heritage elements, including the façades, entrance hall, and main staircase. The new hotel use will be introduced within floor plates that are currently almost entirely open-plan office spaces. The project also includes new lifts to ensure accessibility, together with the fire safety measures required by current regulations, improving the building’s accessibility and safety conditions.
